Huge congratulations to AgLaunch portfolio company, NovoClade, tapped by USDA funding to target New World Screwworm, a flesh-eating parasite that is one of the biggest threats facing U.S. livestock and our food supply right now.

The problem: facilities fighting screwworm use the sterile insect technique, but they have no efficient way to separate males from females before release. Releasing females cuts effectiveness and drives up costs.

NovoClade‘s fix: technology that enables male-only screwworm production, sterilized and released, potentially making the entire national program more efficient and cheaper to run.

We’re proud to back the team at NovoClade and excited to see where this goes. This is proof of what happens when strong founders get connected early to the right network of farmers, mentors, and community.  We’re backing the NovoClade team and can’t wait to see where this goes.
